Dear Bite-Sized Fandoms Exchange Writer,

Thanks for writing for me - I’m really excited for this exchange. I love the idea of picking up easy-to-pick-up fandoms and writing for them! I hope you’re excited as well! I’m FireBatVillain on Ao3 and Tumblr.

In addition to my DNWs, I hope you consider the prompts and likes in this letter as you work, and that they inspire you to make something you enjoy creating and that tickles my fancy! These prompts are meant to inspire, not restrain/restrict, so feel free to go outside these prompts and create what you like!

In addition to this letter, I also maintain a longer, general letter about likes and dislikes if that's useful for you: https://firebatvillain.dreamwidth.org/5012.html

I am open to treats!

Things I like:

Happy stories, bittersweet stories, and stories that end with a spark of hope even if they are angry or sad. I like good communication, wordplay, honor, pointless heroism or love even if it won’t succeed. Probably one of my favorite ideas in fiction is the idea of heroism in the face of hopelessness, and love even if things seem sad.

A lot of the stuff I'm requesting here is funny or a bit silly. I like funny and silly, so feel free to go that direction with things!

A little mini scene or interaction, an ending or a beginning, that could be a canon-compliant off-screen scene or interaction - sounds fun! I also like AUs and alternate imaginings. For some of these fandoms that are just a music video or something, it's kind of a "let the imagination run wild" scenario, so go for it!

I like explicit content and smut. I am okay with darkfic. I do not mind any of the archive warnings aside from what's listed in my DNWs.

Things I don’t like / DNWs:

My DNWs are authorial monarchist apologia, vivid descriptions of needles, pregnancy, and extreme underage.

Regarding the monarchism thing: I’m okay with characters in a feudal or monarchist setting, and even protags who are monarchs, and even these characters triumphing as monarchs as long as the story itself isn’t apologia for monarchism. Characters who like monarchism, who think of themselves as good kings, who want to restore the throne, etc - all good by me. Rider in Fate/Zero, or Moriarty in A Study in Emerald, etc are excellent characters and enjoy works about them. I just would prefer not to read a work where the final moral of the story is that democracy is bad and we should all be ruled by a single person with absolute unchecked power, as presented by the author.

Requested Fandoms:

Request 1: The Ballad of Smokin' Joe Rudeboy - Tom Cardy (Music Video)  - Bo/Velvet Man, Daughter & Velvet Man

I love this song! It's a delightful mix of serious and funny and it has moments of drama and moments that make me want to learn more about the world. Smokin' Joe is, of course, willing to give a big fat "fuck you" to someone who charges too much for a soy cappuccino or who is impolite about party etiquette, but he also took down the Mongoose Mountain Gang! But what I'm requesting here is about the side characters that most interest me: Bo, the Velvet man, and the Daughter. I want to know about the story of what happened there. Did the Outlaw and Bo run off together? Did she die and then did he raise the Daughter? What was their relationship like?

Some prompts if you're looking for them:

  • What were those 18 years apart like for The Daughter? She has a velvet cloak - was she raised by The Outlaw? What was her tough life like and their relationship like? Is she herself an outlaw?
  • I'd love to read a story about what happened with Bo and The Outlaw - she died, after all, but maybe The Outlaw isn't so bad, since it seemed he adopted The Daughter. Perhaps they were in love? Though it seems Daughter had some misconceptions about Smokin' Joe, so she didn't get the whole story.
  • One prompt that's going through my head: if the Outlaw has died somewhere by the end of the confrontation, maybe there's a tearful final scene where he passes on some wisdom and a final benediction to his adopted daughter.
Feel free to make up names for unnamed characters if you feel it would help the story.

Request 2: This was my favorite part of the Bible - CheeseParade (YouTube Video) - : Solo: Sinless Steve, Jesus Christ & Sinless Steve

I think the joke is really well executed as well, much better than. The typical John 8:1-11 joke. It has good costuming and acting at the start, it's shot well, good lighting and enunciation and voice over, good music. It takes the typical joke a step further in a few ways: it's not just the "here's a sinless guy who will in fact throw the rock" or "Jesus was referring to himself", it is a really specific guy. That guy? Sinless Steve. It then switches into WWE mode, with the townspeople cheering or panicking, commentators saying "Jesus can't believe it" etc. The cut to the terrified woman's face. Oh man. And of course: The son of God with the steel chair (using the epithet here btw is also WWE style).

So, what do I want out of this? Well, basically anything exploring this world, Sinless Steve, and Jesus Christ!

Prompts:
  • The fight continues! Will Sinless Steve or will Jesus Christ prevail? Can the tag people in? Are there other moves they'll bust out? The Sinless Suplex? The Prophet Piledriver?
  • Sinless Steve wants revenge! It's time to see him rile up the crowd and learn how his journey has shaped him and prepared him for another bout!
  • Tag team! Sinless Steve and Jesus Christ have to team up for a tag team event. Can our heroes set their differences aside as they face off against two vicious heels?

Request 3: Empire's Tribute (Tumblr) - Tatyus Stan & Tatyus Hater

If you're not sure what this fandom is, check out my comment on the promo post: https://bitesizedfandomsex.dreamwidth.org/777.html?thread=21769#cmt21769 to learn about it.

I love this fandom! In particular, I love the depiction of fandom that is implied and told between the lines of these memes that are written about these characters. We know, for example, that GrenTat shippers don't like that he was made less threatening in the show, but also that he is a divisive, morally complex character with lots of haters because he does bad things. "Don't @ me if you think Tatyus was morally justified"! And he got a lot of attention in the books but not the show. He's irredeemable and people love him! The drama around it must be enormous.

Prompts:

  • A major argument breaks out between a Tatyus Stan and a Tatyus Hater. Call-out posts, line by line arguments, anon hate on Tumblr, reddit hobbydrama thread, Discord mod drama, spitefic, the whole 9 yards! This could be told in whatever format you like.
  • A Tatyus Hater gets their friend into the fandom... only to discover that their friend has become the worst possible thing, a Tatyus Stan!
  • A Tatyus Stan and Tatyus Hater get into a discussion about the actor who portrays Tatyus in the show after the actor gives an interview with an ambiguously interpretable statement about Tatyus' morality.
  • Reddit post: AITA for blocking an internet friend after learning he was a Tatyus Hater?

Request 4: God I miss the days when you could show up to a stranger's farm - s4mm4n - Farmer's Boy / Narrator

Original post here: https://web.archive.org/web/20191112200115/https://s4mm4n.tumblr.com/post/186763378087/god-i-miss-the-days-when-you-could-show-up-to-a

If you offered this, I think you know what you want to write for it already, hehehe. If you want some ideas, I like things that are funny, sexy, smutty, and longing! That night, or another night, or who knows what comes next. Pining ok. Some more explicit prompts:

  • What happens that night, after everyone beds down?
  • Is there a future for the narrator and the farmboy? Or is he just talking longingly of an experience he once had, and how he misses those days. Or can they be reunited?
Feel free to make up names for unnamed characters if you feel it would help the story.

Thanks for reading this!

Hopefully this gives you some ideas. I am sure I will like whatever you write.

Thank you.
