Dear Korean Fandoms Creator,

Thanks for writing or drawing for me - I’m really excited for this event! I hope you’re excited as well! I’m FireBatVillain on Ao3 and Tumblr.

Aside from my DNWs, I hope you consider the prompts and likes in this letter as you work, and that they inspire you to make something you enjoy creating and that tickles my fancy! These prompts are meant to inspire, not restrain/restrict, so feel free to go beyond these prompts and create what you like!

In addition to this set of prompts I've written up, I also maintain a longer, general letter about likes and dislikes if that's useful for you: https://firebatvillain.dreamwidth.org/7347.html.

Things I like in writing:

Happy stories, bittersweet stories, and stories that end with a spark of hope even if they are angry or sad. I like good communication, wordplay, honor, pointless heroism or love even if it won’t succeed. Probably one of my favorite ideas in fiction is the idea of heroism in the face of hopelessness, and love even if things seem sad.

A little mini scene or interaction, an ending or a beginning, that could be a canon-compliant off-screen scene or interaction - sounds fun! I also like AUs and alternate imaginings.

I like explicit content and smut. I am okay with darkfic. I do not mind any of the archive warnings aside from what's listed in my DNWs.

Things I like in art:

Characters hugging, cute animal companions, manifestations of magic or the supernatural, characters looking fierce holding a weapon, item, or tool. Characters floating against abstract backgrounds with aquatic or space-ey feels. I'm happy with all art media, from digital to watercolor to mixed media to others.

In terms of mood: I like moods that are cozy, happy, fierce, or exciting, but I don't like moods in art that are dismaying, horrifying, or depressing.

In terms of how to depict the characters, feel free to diverge from straightforward direct physical depiction / canonical elements if you'd like! I'm comfortable with and enjoy all levels of explicitness/maturity in fics and art.

Anyway - on to the important DNWs and prompts!

Things I don’t like / DNWs:

In fic, my DNWs are authorial monarchist apologia, vivid descriptions of needles, pregnancy, and extreme underage.

In art, my DNWs are authorial monarchist apologia, depictions of needles breaking skin, pregnancy, and extreme underage.

Regarding the monarchism thing: I’m okay with characters in a feudal or monarchist setting, and even protags who are monarchs, and even these characters triumphing as monarchs as long as the story itself isn’t apologia for monarchism. Characters who like monarchism, who think of themselves as good kings, who want to restore the throne, etc - all good by me. Rider in Fate/Zero, or Moriarty in A Study in Emerald, etc are excellent characters and enjoy works about them. I just would prefer not to read a work where the final moral of the story is that democracy is bad and we should all be ruled by a single person with absolute unchecked power, as presented by the author.

Requests:

Request 1 (fic): 그 악녀를 조심하세요! | Beware of the Villainess! - Melissa/Nine

I love this webtoon! The comedy and drama are top notch, and I am constantly entertained by the the facial expressions and visual comedy that's woven into the story. Reading the whole thing, I loved watching the relationship between these two grow, and Nine being devoted but also so willing to stand aside and follow Melissa wherever she goes... and I would really enjoy a fluffy or touching story about the two of them as their love develops!

My general letter contains my likes and dislikes, and here are some prompts to get you started:

  • Melissa and Nine engage in some training before Nine’s awakening, because Nine wants to build up his strength or is feeling anxious and Melissa wants him to feel more confident - and Nine gets familiar with Melissa’s magic sword.
  • Melissa and Nine go on a real date, out on the town, shopping and eating, and thinking about everything that happened between them, and how happy they are together now. Maybe Melissa introduces Nine to some kind of new food?
  • Melissa and Nine go on a trip to do some kind of hobby or sport event, like skiing, and Melissa falls and hurts her leg. While Black Veil (fastest, most ominous horse!) takes their carriage home, Nine comforts Melissa, but is probably freaking out and it ends up Melissa comforting him!

Request 2 (art): KPop Demon Hunters - Derpy the Tiger & Sussie the Magpie

I love the little animal guys in this story! There are a lot of delightful characters and moments in this movie, and I feel like they get a bit of fun whimsical moments and add a lot more, well, humanity to the demons who get screen time. And they’re so cute!

My general letter contains my likes and dislikes, and here are some prompts to get you started:
  • The two of them looking out over the Seoul cityscape, watching as a new Honmoon sweeps over the city. Mood: bittersweet
  • The two of them escaping from a street food stand with freshly stolen kimbap. Mood: playful, silly
  • The two of them in a hat store, examining a number of cat-sized and bird-sized hats. Mood: cute, fluffy
Request 3 (fic): 개화 | The Flowering - Jeong Soyeon - Narrator & Narrator’s Sister, Solo: Narrator’s Sister
I ended up stumbling across this lovely short story after seeing it in the tag set. What a read! I’ve been chewing on it more since reading it, thinking about how in the 6 years since it was published, we’ve moved more towards our own version of Constituent Verification, and I was really interested in reading about what it means to be a bystander or passive supporter in a revolution… as well as the fact that, after it’s all over, well, there are still bills to pay, even if the freedom is beautiful. Also, so much of it is tied up in the relationship between the narrator and her sister, which is complex and fraught! Feel free to give these characters names if you want.

My general letter contains my likes and dislikes, and here are some prompts to get you started:
  • A scene about the narrator’s sister and her working on the seeds that she would one day send to the narrator. What was she thinking? What was it like to be part of this resistance?
  • A scene in the future, when the narrator’s sister does return to the narrator - maybe focused on their parents, something forcing them back together like their Dad passing, and them having to talk things out, or maybe even awkwardly not talk things out while they go about dealing with the things they have to.

Thanks for reading this!

Hopefully this gives you some ideas. I am sure I will like whatever you create.
Thank you.
